Just like the fruit, Persimmon is very sweet. Before arriving at Safe Haven, she was scheduled for euthanasia at another shelter. Persimmon has what is called a “bite history”. This means at one point in time at a previous shelter she broke skin on a human with a bite, and it has to be disclosed to potential adopters. This could have been self-defense… a natural reaction to fear. Whatever the case, it landed her with a permanent record, and she was deemed unadoptable. While living in our cat lounge we have only experienced her attempt to bite when spooked. Therefore, she needs a calm, quiet home with a family that can handle a little spice along with all that sweet. A home without children would be best. Her favorite way to spend the day is by napping with Cat Grandpa Terry, she does not like sharing, though! Once you gain her trust and get to know her, you won’t be able to imagine how a kitty like her was almost euthanized for a few nips here and there.
