Smeagol’s Sweater Spectacular: A Celebration of Life
When: Mark your calendar. On Saturday December 16th we will be coming together to remember sweet Sméagol, a Safe Haven rescue kitty who crossed the rainbow bridge on October 30th, 2023 after a tough battle with hydrocephalus and neurological damage.
Who: Sméagol came to us in February on a transport from a shelter in Texas. He had neurological issues that most affected his mobility, and were likely to shorten his lifespan. His foster mom knew when she took him in that they may not have much time together, so she made sure to bring him on as many adventures as possible! He loved going for car rides, visiting the beach, and meeting as many people as he could. He was often seen sporting cozy sweaters. His strength was an inspiration and a reminder that no matter where you are in life, make the most of it. Sméagol‘s motto was “fall down, stand right back up”.
How: While we are still mourning, we are also celebrating Sméagol’s wonderful life, no matter how short. On Saturday December 16th we ask that you or your furbabies dress up in your coziest sweaters in his honor! Better yet, please take photos and SHARE on social media. Remember to tag us so we can see, and use the hashtag #SmeagolsSweaterSpectacular. A friend of Sméagol’s foster mom created an adorable sign you are also welcome to print off and hold in your photos if you choose. This will be a heartwarming day of embracing life, adventure, and dressing cozy, just like Sméagol always did.
